It was nice to stay home from church and catch up on all my LJ entries.  With the premiere of 24 upon us there is so much to do like writing stories, making icons, finding icons, and just general fandom related things!  I just spent the whole day basically on the computer so let's get right to my reviews of Grease: You're the One That I Want, Brothers and Sisters, and 24 Season Six (6:00-8:00 AM).

Well the creators of Dancing With the Stars came up with this idea and, since I love musicals (though Grease is one of my least favorites), I had to tune in.  Unfortunately it's not as good as its predecessor for one very good reason: There are no professionals involved.  These are kids off the streets trying to live the dream so it's more like American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance.  Not the greatest to watch but entertaining enough to tune in for Sunday Nights.  I didn't see anyone interesting except a guy who does have stage experience from Hairspray.  The professionals are always great to watch.  However, one thing I liked about this show more than anything else...the judges are actually nice!  A forty year old woman and a chubby sixteen year old girl tried out and they didn't make fun of them or berate them.  Instead they smiled, highlighted their best points and encouraged them to keep trying.  THAT'S the way these reality shows should be!

Now on to Brothers and Sisters, which has a VERY special place in my heart!

This show is so reliable in being both funny, witty, and endearing all in one.  It's the new West Wing except focusing on one family :)  On the downside, no Holly or Saul in sight.  On the good side, lots of Senator McCallister and Tom.  It starts out with Tom's wife getting horny because she's pregnant. First Tom is bragging, then he's groaning, then he's complaining and then in another cute scene they're making up.  Awww I love them :)  Next is Sara who is having problems with her husband who has found time to get close to a divorced Mom.  When he finally tells her she's the only one he wants to be with, all I could whisper was "Don't lie to me...please don't lie to me."  Then Kevin falls for a guy who is gay but doesn't realize it yet and doesn't want his girlfriend to know.  Makes Kevin go right through the ringer.  However, the true stars of the episode are Nora and Kitty Walker. They decide to use a dating service and their interplay as the madame comes to their house to prepare them is so cute.  They really have the mother/daughter vibe going.  Manfasting hehe.  Finally, I heart Rob Lowe so much.  When he arrived at her blind date to "save" her and then explained his reasons so romantically, I was seriously getting turned on by the guy.  It was just the sweetest more adorable thing I've seen a guy do in awhile :) *happy sigh*

Ok, it's that time...what I've been waiting half a year to watch...what I've dreamed about, wrote about, fantasized about, and you know talked all hours of the night about....it's 24!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

Alright, I'm ok now...just had to get that out of my system :D  So I watched the leaked episodes...so I saw them again tonight.  Either way it was STILL amazing.  No other show comes close.  I mean the only thing that would have made it more amazing was to have Charles and Martha in the limelight once more...alas, we know that it's not possible...at least not in episodic TV right now...however, my creative mind is prepared to work them in through another angle so it's like they never left *semi-evil laugh*  On to the reviews!

For 24 (Episode 6.1: 6:00 to 7:00 AM and 6.2: 7:00 AM to 8 AM), I was VERY impressed.  I liked how we were just thrown in the situation.  I loved Karen's look, her fights with Lennox, her phone call to Bill, THE WEDDING RING!!, and her apology to Bill after having their first fight.  They're my new couple this season and though everyone compares them to Tony and Michelle, they are so much better.  Why do you ask? Because a) Karen shows a better range of emotions than Michelle ever did and b) Tony doesn't have Bill's sexy calm voice and cute reading glasses.  I don't know what it is but Bill has really come into his own this year.  His scene with Jack at the grate was moving beyond words, then his blow up scene with Chloe was off the charts.  "Look at me, Chloe!" "I'd rather not, sir"  GREAT stuff!  I ADORE Morris...every time he's one he makes me laugh because he's either up to something or causing trouble somewhere. Milo is much better this year and always on Morris' back which makes for great tension.  Nadia is too hardnosed and has no personality.  She's better than Curtis but has not found her niche yet.  I like Michelle better than her...and I don't like Michelle that much either.

The three new characters I like the best are Assad, Lennox, and Fayed in that order.  Alexander Siddig is brilliant as Assad...he brings so much to the role that he reminds me of an Islamic Jack Bauer. He matches Kiefer pace for pace and that is hard to do :)  When Jack says "I don't know how to do this anymore," Assad replies "You'll remember."  Peter MacNichol is doing a BRILLIANT job as the smarmy Lennox. He's this year's Logan...every twitch, every motion with his hands conveys something.  He can weasel his way out of anything and blindside you before you realize he's right on top of you.  Love him to pieces.  Finally, we have a real three dimensional terrorist.  Fayed is so much better than any Islamic terrorist we've had before from Marwan to the guy in Season Two.  He truly believes he's a soldier in a holy war and we're the enemy.  His scenes with Jack and the suicide bomber struck just the right tone that you believed he was pure evil.  I don't know how they did it but the writers have triumphed again.  The men deserve their Emmy awards!

The characters I'm not pleased with are Wayne and Sandra Palmer.  He's still not up to snuff and she's having trouble with her dialogue.  He does have some good moments when he actually gets mad and takes charge or tells his sister "Yah yah I love you too" but other than that he waits for everybody else to make a move instead of stepping in as the President.  Sandra needs to soften her voice, get more into the script, and try to tone down the street talk.  Also please have Harry Lennix speak regular...the accent is killing me!

Well, that's all I have right now.  More to follow tomorrow when the rest of the season premiere airs AND the Golden Globes.  I can't wait to see Jean Smart and Gregory Itzin there. I'm sure it will be a great highlight of the season!  And if you want to see some cute interviews and clips by Fox, check out the following link.  An awesome interview of the both present and past cast members on Season Six!

This is the gateway to the link I was talking about. Click me now or die! Just kidding!

It's all coming apart...and there is nothing I can do...I'm sorry, Martha...I tried to keep this from you...
