The end of the weekend *cries*

Why must weekends only last two days? Why can't they be longer like three? Oh well, I won't cry over spilled milk...24 is on tomorrow and it's a new episode. That should get me through my long work day :) Plus I have lots of things to do like signature cards and my manager won't be in for the rest of the week *does a little dance, makes a little love, gets down tonight* Hehe. So onward to the day's events...no church today because I stayed up too late and Mom and brother weren't going. It was nice to have a second full day off. I was on the computer for a little bit before Mom and I decided to go shopping so I could get Dad's birthday card and gift. I ended up buying a ton of stuff at the mall though. First, I used my Borders coupon to buy the new Lost and Prison Break magazines as well as the latest 24 novel. Then it was on to FYE where I had to grab up some used 98 Degrees CD's (REALLY cheap hehe) before finally stopping at Hallmark for the aforesaid card plus one for my Grandmother and my Mom for Valentine's Day because if I do that I can buy all three animated stuffed animals at $9.99 each. They wiggle their ears and say the most adorable things. Not that I need another stuffed animal but they ARE cute. There are still two or three more I need to add to my growing collection as well as a special Josh Groban CD that came out just for the holiday. So many things begging for my attention!
Now on to the TV shows. I only watched two and a half...Grease: You're The One That I Want, some of Jane Eyre, and Brothers and Sisters of course :)
Well, I had to wait an hour for Brothers and Sisters to come on and someone else was using the computer so I turned to Jane Eyre on PBS.
And now what we've all been waiting for...Nora Walker's birthday party!
Of course I can't end without recommending a 24 related website and the good news is that I stumbled across this in one of my LJ communities. Evidently one of the crew members working on 24 wanted to do some short film spin-off from the series entitled The CTU Rookie. It basically follows the misadventures of someone new at CTU and will have new episodes uploaded over time. They just must have too much free time on their hands to produce this as well as everything else hehe. However, if this interests you, go ahead and have a look :)

I was already to eat dinner at China Wok Buffet when we discovered that the owner was taking her children to Chinese class. Some people had set one up downtown and charged $5 per class. They were leaving right then so I immediately tagged along. This was my one chance to start learning the language at a discounted price. However, I never knew it would be so hard. I think I understood 75% of what the teacher taught but there were two sounds I couldn't make because it requires you breathing through your nose and I never do. I think I need an English book on speaking Chinese that explains it better. I did love how complicated it was and the rising and falling tones. On a humorous note, I was the oldest student in the beginner's class. Everyone else was in grade school or kindergarten. But who cares? I'm learning Chinese!!! I plan to go back every Sunday afternoon as long as they have it and you know what's really great? They have an activity period where you lean things like origami and...get this...dancing!! Like in Memoirs of a Geisha possibly. Oh I would LOVE to learn something like that with fans and kimonos. I know that would be Japanese but they came from the Chinese so it might be something similar. Can't wait till next week!

Well, this next episode was about as good as the last episode but worse than the other reality shows I watch. It just doesn't show enough of them actually performing and more of the drama behind the audition process. This time they're at Grease Academy and going through acting/dancing/singing boot camp. Some are kind of good but no one is outstanding and there are so many people that they kind of run together. One looks the part but can't sing, the other needs a whole makeover but can waltz across the dance floor. One thing I'll say is that the judges are nice and not obnoxious like the American Idol ones. The good news: Next week they actually start performing for our votes so it should get a tad more interesting. I hope the Broadway Show's producers are training a professional Danny and Sandy because so far I don't see anyone who can carry a show in New York City...not with the time restraints involved.

And I must say...she sure was not very attractive. The girl was a good actress but I did not like seeing her face on screen. I know Jane wasn't supposed to be pretty but I would have liked to see a woman with just plain lines not VERY plain lines. The main male role was aptly filled by a guy called Toby Stephens. Excellent chap who could be both warm and cold, inviting and sarcastic all in one. I will say another thing though...I like Jane Austen much better...there is just too much darkness to the Bronte Sisters. I do like angst but not this type of angst. I'll take Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett any day :)
And now what we've all been waiting for...Nora Walker's birthday party!
Finally...FINALLY Saul made an appearance and it was his best yet. He really does have excellent chemistry with Sally Field. The way he saved her from their mother, his talk with her in the cupboard, the way they downed the alcohol the same way, the hilarious way he teased Kevin about scorpions, and finally his little conversation with Nora at the kitchen sink. Oh how I love seeing them together as brother and sister. Next up on the list was Kitty and McAllister. Now I don't much care for Kitty but Rob Lowe I fall in love with more and more. His character here is so much better than Sam on West Wing. He's less socially awkward and is so much the white knight in shining armor from providing the caterer at the last moment to the talk about shoes with Kitty in the closet (she would try him on right now if she wasn't working for him) to his amazing onscreen chemistry with Sally Field. I mean if those two started dating I would have no problems...even with the age difference. There was just something that clicked between them in their scenes together...I don't know if it was a mutual attraction or admiration but it was something. The Sarah and Joe sex scene was actually pretty funny and it was cute when the whole family let out all their secrets to their unsuspecting grandmother. The only problem I had with the episode was Nora's mother. Looks wise, she was perfect. However, she seemed kind of out of place during the whole episode and I didn't like how she interacted with the family. Her character was supposed to cause conflict but everything she did just irritated me. It just didn't fit at all...they should have found another actress! That aside, still looking forward to next week's episode :)

We've been married for over twenty years and I need to understand why you're shutting me out...

Date: 2007-01-23 01:18 am (UTC)Did you know the nuke was going to go off? If so, do you feel that knowing that ahead of time took the shock out of it? I mean, I was totally and completely shocked. My mouth was open -- jaw on the floor kind of thing.
