And then he asked her...

Lately, I've been a little depressed over 24. They seemed to have forgotten everything they learned in Season Five about great character development, focusing on strong actors over weak ones, and most of all keeping it real. That all went away with Episode Five and I'm left missing the show that I grew to love last year. So suddenly I'm looking for something new to fulfill that longing...a show that explores the relationships between a man and a woman...one that focuses on relationships and friendships but not in a soap opera way. I found it tonight in Gray's Anatomy.
Concerning the TV, I enjoyed Smallville and Grey's Anatomy (I keep forgetting that CSI goes right against Grey's Anatomy...pity too because Liev Schrieber is on right now *cries*)
And now for the surprising treat of the evening...
Now just a small news article on Greg's extracurricular activities which happen to include two movies :)
However, before I get into that, I LOVED the fact that I didn't have to go into work until 12 PM. I slept in, caught up in LJ, and browsed the message boards. I just wish it was like 1:30 instead of 12:00 so I could get more in. Steady pace at work but not too bad. I wasn't at the front desk so not too stressful. I helped a number of older people who were very sweet...I just hope the guy doing the rollover IRA doesn't have any problems with it because it WAS for $100,000.00 and THAT'S a lot of money. Then it was home for some New York Style sausage pizza. I tried to make a virgin pina colada but the ingredients had gone bad and we have no juice in the house. I was reduced to water *cries* However, I did finally crack open my Photoshop CS program and discovered that there are SO MANY more options to play with than in Paintshop. I even tried a photoshop tutorial with a M/A base. The results didn't come out right but it was still fun trying to figure out how to do it :)

Well, I haven't seen Smallville in awhile and I think it's kind of lost its way but I still love the characters :) This one was kind of scary and intriguing at the same time because Clark gets confined to a mental institution. This episode was entitled "Labyrinth". What I liked about it was how the shrink told Clark that he had made everything up to protect himself from the cruel reality of the outside world. Scattered around his room were objects and names from his past life sort of like how Kevin Spacey made up a great story in The Usual Suspects just by seeing the things in the detective's office. I liked seeing Lana in love with Clark again because there is no denying their chemistry though it was sad to see Chloe die. Lex in a wheelchair was a powerful scene as he poured out all his rage and resentment on the stunned Clark. The final scene with Clark and Chloe once he banishes the phantom to outer space was so sad because he told her how much he loved Lana still when Chloe has always carried a torch for Clark. I LOVED seeing Lana look back over her shoulder when Clark sees her at The Talon and she's leaving on Lex's arm to plan their wedding. They are so meant to be together but never will...
And now for the surprising treat of the evening...
I have seen Grey's Anatomy before and was first not impressed then I was impressed then I wasn't again. I guess like every show it has its off moments. ANYWAYS, tonight it delivered with the episode entitled "Great Expectations"! Christina and Burke aren't talking and I think that's wonderful because you can feel the sexual tension in the room. They're such great actors that so much is said by their eyes and not by their mouths. THAT'S what I like to see. The story with the Amish girl was so heartrending but she really wanted to go back there to die and her friend let her. I almost cried when the mother (who is supposed to shun her) turned around and said she would tell her parents that she had grown up into a beautiful young woman. It was truly a wonderful moment :) Finally a show where they get the idea that hospitals can be great places for dramatic pieces if laid out right (ER messes that up big time but Grey's succeeds!). I loved the fact that all the interns were vying for Chief's spot but it would go to the one who didn't even know but had the right heart...Miranda...the way she got the other doctors to sign off on her free clinic was perfect and now Izzie has somewhere to put her money :) Three "aww" moments at the end. One was Derek's promise to Meredith that he would always come home no matter what fight they had...if he had already been married to Addison, I would believe him. However, once you cheat on someone, you will cheat on the next one and the one after that. Then George proposed to Callie but more importantly Burke proposed to Christina. I was so overjoyed with the way he asked her and the expression on her face as she received his proposal that I couldn't describe it in words. It was one of the most beautiful things I've seen on television in a long while :)

Variety reports that Gregory Itzin (24) has booked the lead role in Zenith Films' Float, written and directed by Johnny Asuncion with Peter Paul Basler producing.
Itzin also has joined the cast of TriStar's I Know Who Killed Me, starring Lindsay Lohan and Julia Ormond. Chris Sivertson directs.
Both films are filming in Los Angeles.
The actor's credits include Original Sin and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
This is me signing off for the night and hoping tomorrow goes by quick so I can enjoy the weekend :)
How could you lie to me all these years? How could you say you loved me but keep this from me? I don't know you anymore...

Date: 2007-01-26 08:13 pm (UTC)I think i know what you mean about season 5. But what I've noticed about s5, is that is was very calm and more adventure based. s6 is so dark and disturbing, that its great. But, its very different from s5. I wouldnt get to down about it. One thing i noticed about 24 is they had ups and downs through the season. And dont worry, your cherished twosome are coming soon. I'm really interested to see how they fit in. I think Grahams ties to the nukes, from the russians, is what connects back to Charles. It sounds like a crazily dynamic way to bring him back.
This season(something i havent seen in other seasons) has ALOT of set up. Which is good. Because its very subtle set up.
Thanks for the words of encouragement :)

Date: 2007-01-27 09:23 pm (UTC)So far I am really impressed by the villains. Fayed and possibly Assad are terrific actors. And for the first time, you see a more believable terrorist, Fayed. The actor plays him to such devotion and madness that its very real.
