FINALLY I'm caught up!!!

I was like three days behind but now I can post something on the same day I'm writing. If you guys think you've missed my journal entries, it's because I was backdating. Feel free to take a look and comment if you like :) We had SNOW but it didn't stick so we were slow at work and that was good because we got a lot done. Tally worked on signature cards, I worked...on other things, and we came up with a beautiful system of handling them for the future. Loleta even gave me props for writing a great email...I love it when she's in a great mood. I had a wonderful chat with Tally who's single and idealistic like me so she understands when I want to talk about relationships and friendships without sex and making out involved. She also understands how hard it is to find people the of the trendy, chic set who JUST want to talk and discuss things :) Glad I have someone to talk to!
And now for the show that makes me cry...not once but two times!!
Here's a small shout out to an episode of Shark (not as good as GA hehe)
And finally I have a WONDERFUL WONDERFUL news story that a dear friend at FLOSS found for me on Jean and Greg. I had never seen this before so it had to go up as this week's news though it's dated last year :)
Despite spending all night on the computer, I DID manage to watch three TV shows (just rushed back here in between commercials *giggles*). First up is Smallville with an episode entitled "Crimson." Lois is infected with red kryptonite and FINALLY realizes how great a guy Clark is and Clark of course is turned on by the sexy, playful side of Lois' personality. I went in thinking it would be another silly, cartoonish episode but it actually was pretty entertaining. The chemistry was sizzling between the two actors and I could actually see them together in the end instead of Clark and Lana. I think Lana is destined to be the tragic figure of the series...loved by Clark and Lex but never happy with either. I definitely love her so much better because of it. I was shocked to see she was pregnant with Lex's child but it makes sense now. Something has to turn Lex completely against Clark at some point and if he thinks Clark somehow causes Lana to lose the baby and eventually her love Lex would have good reason to hate him. Unfortunately, one of the weaker actors was Michael Rosenbaum. He just didn't give his character more depth like Gregory Itzin did. When Lana said that she didn't want people to know about the pregnancy so they would know she loved him and him alone, there was no softening of his features...just a slight smirk before he embraced her. You blew a great moment, Michael!
And now for the show that makes me cry...not once but two times!!
Ok, I've never been a fan of medical dramas. I'm like...people wounded, doctors fix them, not a big deal. However! Grey's Anatomy has done something wonderful by really using the medical drama as a backdrop for their storyline and letting the characters come to the forefront. It's NOT like ER where it's always about the emergency or saving the patient. This is about both the patient and doctor and how the situation effects them as a person. Since they ARE in a crisis situation, they express thoughts and emotions they would not normally do if everything was fine. THIS is what I wanted to see a little of in 24 and they never got there. They did with Season Five but not this current season...hence my disappointment. Anyways, on to the episode ("Wishin' and Hopin'")
Well, to begin with, I loved how Addison said she would let the guys beat each other down for chief and then step in while Mark Sloan just waltzed his way up to Webber and talked about going down to see Chandra's new clinic that Izzie paid for. The man is smooth...VERY smooth. Then George announced that he and Callie were married and my mouth dropped open...how quick was that? I liked how she chided him for not standing up for her when the others teased her and then he did at the end. Normally I don't like this couple but they're growing on me. How amazing was it when George discovered the woman's blood was toxic and called down to the operating room but all the doctors were passed out. Then Burke and Derek suited up with oxygen tanks to finish the operation, neither willing to leave until both passed out. I loved how Mark wouldn't go in there so he could be the only WELL attending physician on the floor and when he caught Addison in his arms that was SO romantic. You can feel the chemistry there but you can also see it between her and Karev. Their eye connection is AMAZING! Then there was Miranda dealing with her very young patient at the free clinic about not having sex until she was ready. Awww I love her tough mother love!
Now for the best parts! First was Meredith and her mother. Evidently the woman has Alzheimer's but is now lucid for a short period of time. She was a brilliant surgeon but her marriage fell apart because she was more concerned about her career. I love how the mother berates Meredith up and down about not finding her specialty until you just want to hug the poor girl for having to experience this. Then the connection between Christina and the mother. I love it when she tells her that heart surgeons are the most gifted but also the most ambitious...perfect field for Dr. Yang. She is both. Then when she asks the older woman about whether a relationship can work if you love your career a lot and the lady admitted that she didn't try hard enough. Then Webber comes in later and tells her how their life could have been together and holds her so close that I think I cried again (I cried for the first part when Meredith's mother is so hard on her). And finally...Christina says yes but no ring. They have a brief spat and then he unexpectedly sweeps her up into his arms as she really laughs out loud in pleasure. "You said yes!!!!!!!!" he shouts and I echo his sentiments. I just love how his character continues to surprise me :)

Well, in this episode entitled "Teacher's Pet", we have the son of a billionaire up for the murder of his Dad. There's the art teacher who loves him and sends me quite personal emails but nothing sexual. There's the step mom who would lose money if she killed her husband before the boy turned a certain age thanks to a prenuptial agreement. My 24 conspiracy brain working as it does, I started connecting the pieces. First the kid would confess that the teacher was the murderer because the step mom told him to so we could go on that bunny trail until something would lead us back to the step mom who probably killed the husband out of rage or something. I was just about right...instead of rage, it was money. She planned to get all the money when the boy turned 18. The last case is wearing on Shark as he worries about his daughter's safety. This young guy is watching her and I don't see the chemistry there so blah! I DID see some great scenes with the detective and the DA. She's so relaxed and cute with him while he's polite and reserved. It's adorable! Everyone now has a love interest except the mayor :)

24 Interview
Interview with the stars of 24
Since exploding on to our screens back in 2002, 24 has established itself as a definitive television thriller. Packed with action, twists, explosions and seriously intense drama. Viewlondon film reviewer Matt Turner caught up with the Gregory Itzin (President Logan) and Jean Smart (Martha Logan) for a chat about life in 24.
First of all, are you both on board for season six?
Gregory Itzin: We're not allowed to say! Here's what we say because we've said it before. We've been told we are. And there you go.
Jean Smart: Apparently almost two years will have taken place between Day 5 and Day 6, so they're going to fit us in where they can.
And is the movie going to be after Season 6 or before Season 6?
GI: They're writing it now and that's all they'll tell us.
One of the great things about 24 is its propensity for killing off its main characters. Were you scared you weren't going to make it to the end?
GI: Not scared. I thought it could happen. I'll tell you honestly - business-wise, I knew if they did, they'd still pay me till the end of the season so it wasn't that big a deal.
How far in advance do you get the scripts?
GI: A week or two. But if you're going to die, they bring you in and talk to you.
JS: They give you a little courtesy call if you're going to die.
Martha, your scenes with Agent Aaron Pierce were wonderful. Why did you play it like she was attracted to him?
JS: They actually cut a scene though that he and I were very upset about. There was a scene where he said something which let her know how he felt, which was quite shocking to her. And they cut that. So then the scene they left in, where I thank him for saving my life and hold his hand and everything, that came out of what he'd said to me but now it looked like I was sexually harassing the staff! But it was okay, people didn't seem to mind.
Do you have a favourite moment from this season?
JS: My first scene, the introduction to Martha where she dumps her head in the sink. It spoke volumes about her impulsive nature and it's one of my favourite introductions to any character I've ever played.
Is Kiefer around when you're shooting your scenes, given his executive producer position?
GI: Only when you're on the phone with him. But he set the tone on this from the very first season. If you're doing a phone scene – and there are so many phone scenes on 24 – you get called in and you sit on the set while they're talking to you on the phone. And that's very rare.
Gregory, what was your reaction to finding out Logan was behind everything?
GI: At first I was very, What? What? No! Wait! Stop! but ultimately I trusted them, because they have a hit show and they know what they're doing. And interestingly enough, once he did this, he became more popular, people liked him more. And I think, simply, it's because he finally became decisive and people like their villains to be clear-cut or something like that.
There's a moment towards the end of the series where your love scene appears to only last the length of the commercial break.
JS: The Presidential quickie? I had a huge concern about that. I said I did not want this to be like a joke on the internet or something. And they said no, no, we fudge the times on things a lot.
GI: It's one of the few times where they weren't quite on the up and up. There was more to the scene than ended up on the screen. That episode ran 17 minutes long and they had to lose things to fit it all in. There was a whole bunch of stuff that was left on the cutting room floor.
JS: But yeah, it was a concern. I said, you know, they've been married for 20 years, they know exactly what they're doing. When you're married that long, you know, it's possible! It isn't probable, but it's possible.
GI: I had a helicopter to catch! But no, it was slightly embarrassing, but I can handle it, I'm an actor.
The DVD of 24 Season 5 is released on Monday 6th November.

My favorite part about their quick love scene: "But yeah, it was a concern. I said, you know, they've been married for 20 years, they know exactly what they're doing. When you're married that long, you know, it's possible! It isn't probable, but it's possible." I love Jean Smart so much now!! She REALLY does like Greg and tried to make the marriage work despite what the writers threw at them. Bless her heart!
I really don't want to be talking to you right now...I'd much rather be arguing with Marty!

Date: 2007-02-02 07:31 pm (UTC)Second I adding you to my top five if you don't mind.
Third... everything you said about Greys was exactly how I felt! Although I wish Cristina would wear the ring and I really can't wait for her to tell everybody. I don't know what I think about George & Callie's marriage. Although I think they are good together I feel it is kind of doomed ya know? I wasn't happy with the lack of Meredith/Derek interaction and then he got mad at her, that annoyed me a lot. I love the Alex and Addison eye sex.. and the end where she tells mark she is "actively not thinking about him" while they are having sex, its so obvious she thinking about Alex. Okay I'm rambling sorry.
Awww thanks so much *hugs*
Date: 2007-02-03 12:41 am (UTC)Yeah I wanted Cristina to wear the ring too but she made up for it when Burke swept her up in his arms and she giggled like a high school girl! And she can always change her mind :)
Yeah I don't think the George/Callie thing will last but will be fun while it's there. Is he supposed to hook up with Izzie? She seemed jealous that this took place.
Addison is my favorite female character on the show. She's beautiful, elegant, and smart! Great combination!
And it's not rambling, it's fangirling!
Re: Awww thanks so much *hugs*
Date: 2007-02-03 02:28 am (UTC)As for izzie I think she wants George to be her best friend and not leave her tell shes ready or something like that i dunno I'm fangirling now.. lol
Re: Awww thanks so much *hugs*
Date: 2007-02-03 08:24 pm (UTC)Aaah ok about the George/Izzie thing. I've just started watching so had no idea :) Sounds good to me!

Yes *giggles*
Date: 2007-02-03 09:40 pm (UTC)And me too!! I can't wait to see what the disaster is!
