ladyofavalon77: (CM (Dont Touch Me))
[personal profile] ladyofavalon77

No matter how much you try to recapture what you had in the past you just cannot return to what you once had. That seemed to be the theme of tonight’s TV show and a good them for the Logans too. Season Five is over and now it’s time to realize that we probably won’t see either Martha and Charles ever again. At least they’re both in pilots for the fall but it won’t ever be as good as what they had on 24. For now I’ll console myself with Bill/Karen and Tom/Karen.

So now a few side notes. I went and purchased Murder One Season One and Two. Evidently Greg’s in it as a hard nosed D.A. and even gets embroiled in a political assassination case. Oh the irony! At any rate it will be lots of Greg at his best and I can pretend it’s Logan the early years hehe. I also watched a first season CSI episode entitled Boom where both Greg and Glenn were in it. I was so surprised to see them both in the same episode. That’s fate I tell ya! Greg’s part was small but so wonderfully acted out. He outshone everyone in the room as he conveyed the pain of realizing what his careless words had caused his son to do. It was nice to see what Logan’s relationship with his dead child could have been like (according to Jean and Greg for the back story they made up J )

Ok here’s a little bit about Clark Kent and the rest of the gang.

Ok, I don’t know what’s happened to the Smallville I love but all the shows I like seem to have gotten infected with some virus where they try to make them cheap, action packed, shallow dramas without utilizing what that word means. For crying out loud…Lois in a red leather suit trying to take on Clark in the arena.? Was that really necessary? Or did they just want to see the actress suited up? *rolls eyes* Anyways, it was entitled “Combat” (Episode 6.17) and I did like seeing Angry!Clark and his bad attitude effecting Chloe was adorable too. The actor who played the owner of the meteor freak show did a really good job of playing someone totally helpless to someone out to make a quick profit. Good work with just a few lines!

Now for the Lana/Lex drama. There were some good moments here. I am still confused about Lana’s baby. Did Lex infect it with kryptonite to grow a meteor freak? Is it Clark’s? Did he make up the pregnancy so he could then say she lost it so she would be more dependent on him? It’s just very puzzling. I loved how tender he was with her and tried to comfort her during this time of grief. Kristin did a BEAUTIFUL job portraying the loss of the child she had been looking forward to for so long. Can’t wait till next week!

Awkward for George and Izzie at Seattle Grace…

So in episode 3.19 (“My Favorite Mistake”) Izzie comes to terms with sleeping with George and finds out…she loves it. And she wants to be with him…even though he’s married…and it would be wrong. Her awkward conversation with Addison was so funny and the remarks she made as she sat with the other interns…poor Izzie. And George not remembering until waaaaaaaaay later. Poor George. I did like how he stood up to Callie’s father (*squeee* Hector Elizondo…he’s perfect…though he looked a little pale and not well at all). Though I don’t like Callie much, I felt bad that she has no idea what happened and then George won’t tell her. Yes it might break up the marriage and it would hurt her terribly…but it will hurt her worse when she finds out later that you said nothing. Do it now George and save what dignity you have left…

So the race for chief…I just love how the hint of a ten year plan from Dr. Marlow sends everyone scrambling to come up with their own. However that sneaky Mark Sloan calls on the most level headed doctor (Miranda hehe) in the clinic for her opinion and uses it right in the boardroom to make a great impression. He is INCREDIBLY sly! I think he put Meredith on the spot for the plastic surgery to unsettle Derek…at any rate it worked but at least Meredith showed she is a capable doctor in her own right. Jane Doe knows that Karev and Addison like each other awww. However the best moment of the night…Christina realizing she DOES want to get married and snuggling right up into Burke’s strong supportive arms. The actor might have issues in real life but the character is one to admire and look up to J

So news…news…news. Well, I found this blog piece about the parallels between the MacBeths and the Logans. I just love how he ties it in to the episode last week. I would DIE to have Greg and Jean playing these roles on stage *head desk* At any rate, I do believe their story is one of tragedy if one could have been more understanding, stronger than the situation that presented itself, or just listened to the other the marriage could have survived. However, like so many real life marriages, things happen and the two are torn asunder…making their union all that more precious J

TV Review: S6:13 of 24: Is This a Dagger Which I See Before Me?

Part of Bauer Power - 24, Day 6

Art thee not, fatal vision, sensible / To feeling as to sight? Or art thou but / a dagger of the mind, a false creation / Proceeding from the heat-oppressed brain?" Fans of Shakespeare's Macbeth will recognize these lines (and the title) as some of the most insightful words a fictional character ever uttered. While these lines highlight Macbeth's struggle with his murderous tendencies, they also apply quite nicely to last night's episode for, if anyone read my reviews of Season 5, he or she would know I frequently referenced Macbeth in discussing the Charles Logan-Martha Logan marriage and quest for power. I even used to jokingly refer to Martha as Lady MacDeath, and it seems in retrospect there was a great deal of foreshadowing in that.

Last night it all came to fruition when old Chucky went to visit the Lady and her new beau, stalwart former Secret Service Agent Aaron (Hawkeye) Pierce. It seems old Hawk is now devoted to the Lady, dutifully bringing her home fruit from her favorite store. The Lady is on the wagon now, so no more narcotics and cocktails for her. Fresh raspberries and grapes will have to suffice. It seems she is content with Hawk, until Chucky arrives on her doorstep looking for a favor. Admittedly, this seems a contrivance, but no more so than the evil Graem turning out to be Jack's long lost brother. In the world of 24, we have grown used to these things and move on.

Our hero Jack Bauer is still locked away in the Russian Embassy. He takes a sweet Russian couple hostage after breaking free and killing the crumb who killed the guy who tried to warn Bill about the nukes in the desert. Got that? Well, now Jack holds the girl and sends the guy off to get a phone. It must be a Russian thing, because nothing seems to work very well in this building.

Back at CTU, a new sheriff named Mike (Clint Eastwood) Doyle strides into town. Apparently, he is the head of Field Ops now and this ruffles Milo's feathers. It seems clear that Milo is permanently on the list for Mr. Personality, for he has a history with Clint that goes back to Denver. Either Milo can't play nice or he just has issues. Clint struts around CTU and lets everyone know he's taking charge. Bill skulks off to his office; Milo tells Nadia that he doesn't like the guy but that he knows what he is doing; and Chloe and Morris exchange knowing glances, as if to say things just got much worse.

Chucky comes to CTU and talks Bill into letting him go to see Lady MacDeath, hoping she will broker a deal with Russian President Subaru's wife to allow an attack on the embassy. The Lady and Mrs. Subaru shared a defining moment in a limousine in Season 5 when they survived an assault that was engineered by husband Charles. No wonder she is so miffed at the guy. Bill seems to have lost his way and lets Chucky get a helicopter without even thinking through the ramifications. Maybe he is pining for Karen (Hillary) Hayes, who is in Washington where the stakes are getting even higher.

At the White House, President Noah (Jim Jones) Daniels is setting up a deal with Tom (Twitchy) Lennox concerning his involvement in the assassination attempt that has left Prez Wayne Palmer on hiatus (actually he is with Curtis and Karen having cocktails in some dark saloon). Twitchy agrees to implicate the now dead Assad in the attempt, although one can see that this goes against his grain (he actually does have a spine after all). Twitchy is bothered by the fact that Reed and Carson will seemingly get away with it, but Twitchy may not be done yet. The ambassador (lots of diplomats in these episodes by the way) from Assad's country denounces the assassination attempt, but Jones is not buying it. He has a carrier group off the coast of this man's country and an itchy trigger finger.

Chucky goes to see Lady MacDeath, who won't come out of the bedroom to see him. He and Hawkeye exchange something less than pleasantries (Chucky did try to have Hawkeye killed in Season 5), but it is a small triumph for the former president when his wife does appear to talk with him. Appropriately dressed all in black, Lady MacDeath berates her ex-husband and then throws kibble and bits at him. Chucky does ask her to call Mrs. Subaru in hopes she will intervene with her husband concerning the embassy.

Before you can say "Psycho," the Lady has grabbed a knife and is plunging it into Chucky. It's a shocking and devastating blow. Hawkeye, without the aide of a martini or Trapper John, tries to apply pressure to the wound as he calls for an ambulance. Imagine in one day an assassination attempt on a sitting president and an ex-president? Just what the country needs after a nuclear explosion, right?

MacDeath gets herself together enough after the bloodletting to speak to Mrs. Subaru, who does talk to her husband. Subaru calls Markhov at the embassy and orders him to let Jack Bauer go and surrender to the Americans. Markhov, who is in cahoots with Fayed (Mr. Clean) and Gredenko (Mr. Dirty), declines his boss's edict, thus giving Subaru no alternative but to authorize the U.S. assault on the embassy. Thankfully, we shouldn't have any of the same minutiae that the assault on the Chinese consulate in Season 4 caused.

Clint leads the strike team's attack on the embassy. Apparently, he enjoys wielding a machine gun as much as Jack does. He takes out guys left and right and eventually finds Jack in the basement. Jack finally tells Clint about the nukes in the desert, and he relays this message to CTU.

We get a glimpse of Mr. Clean and Mr. Dirty with a drone that is all ready to drop another nice payload somewhere on Americans. At the same time Chucky is in the ambulance mumbling "Martha" under his oxygen mask. This dramatic irony becomes even more poignant as the medic starts working on him and says, "We're losing him." It doesn't look too promising for old Chuck.

Will CTU be able to stop the drone? Will Lady MacDeath be sent back to the funny farm? Will Jack be able to find Clean and Dirty and, with Clint's help, neutralize the threat? What about Hillary? Will she be able to stop Jim Jones from wiping out a Middle Eastern nation with something a lot worse than Kool-aid? And, finally, will Chucky make it to the hospital or will he join David Palmer, Edgar, Tony, and Michelle at that great CTU set in the sky?

Until next week, Klaatu barada nikto!

I have plenty more pieces but will save them for the coming weeks!  Talk to you later, folks!

Just calling to check on the status of my husband...Did he die or do I need to stab him again?

Oh, this weeks episode of Grey's was so good! Although I always kinda wanted George to end up with Izzie over Callie (I flip between thinking Callie is great and not so great), the way it happened is just so full of pain and drama that I want him to be good to his wife now. I think the awesome thing about this show is how it can do things I do not want and then make me enjoy it anyway.

(And, hee, I love your caption for the picture!)

Word!!

I love how all the relationships keep changing and yet they find time for discussing some pretty deep subjects. Yeah I'm not a fan of Callie at all but after what George did to her I think he should stay but tell her the truth! Delaying it will only make the wound deeper when it comes out.

And Kate Walsh is getting her own show! Two for the price of one!

I love your layout. I will miss the Logan's definitely. What series are they in for the fall?

I loved Michelle and Tony on 24. I really, really miss them. I wish they had not been killed off, but could come back now and then. :-(

Yeah :(

It's sad to see these characters leave a show you love. Michelle and Tony were so reliable as characters go.

Thanks for the compliment on my layout! Just a little tweaking here and there. Greg will be in "Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office" and plays hyper caffeinated alpha dog boss. Jean will be in "Sam I Am" as the self absorbed mother of the title character's amnesiac character :)

I liked the MacBeth/24 article. It was rather interesting, and I was LOL'ing the whole time at the nicknames. Especially Karen (Hillary) Hayes. HAH. HAYES 08 !!! Dude, Karen should just take over the white house now. Heck, I'd even take Lennox over Noah right now.

And your picture is hilarious .. "do I need to stab him again..?"

*Giggles*
