Sort of!  Only a few more days until the second deadline for [profile] 24_stillness and I wanted to make my contribution.  After all, the challenge is make 4 icons of your favorite pairing...all the more incentive to practice my paltry skills.  However, there were some AMAZING icon tutorials I found and a little tweak here and a little tweak there, some icons actually turned out pretty well.  I'd post some now but I must submit them for the contest. You'll see them later :)

I want to thank [personal profile] crashandburn for the lovely Christmas card!  It finally arrived today and was SO adorable.  I loved the little note inside.  A few years ago I used to write a lot of letters to pen pals overseas...I should start that again :D  It's fun getting mail from other countries...I'm always interested in the postage stamps hehe.  And I'm going to show my German friend at work the inscription to get it translated.  Thanks again!

So back to what I'm currently watching...I forgot to talk about Syriana!! I finally saw it this week after staying up till 2 a.m.  It was THAT good!! I didn't like the torture or the cursing but the story...the story was awesome.  My favorite characters who owned the screen were Alexander Siddig, Jayne Atkinson, and Christopher Plummer.  In that order!!  I didn't recognize Alex at all.  He carried himself like a prince...charming, handsome, and wanting to do the right thing for his people by bringing democracy to the Middle East.  Matt Damon was great as the investment guy who wants to help him but Alex was clearly the star.  He should have won an Academy Award!  I can't wait to see him in 24 now. I hope they give him some juicy lines because he can so pull it off with his wonderful presence and charisma on screen.  Jayne looked amazing as well and she was believable as a bureau chief who was George Clooney's boss...I especially liked how she handled the CIA doubletalk scenes...absolutely brilliant...just like on 24!  Christopher Plummer is always good in whatever role he takes but here he gets special accolades for wielding a quiet, deadly power with ease as he topples governments in the Middle East with just a mercurial smile and twinkling eye.  It's amazing how good he is at being bad :)

In other news, I watched an old episode of CSI about a murder at the theater for Cirque du Soleil.  The show at the beginning was beautiful and strange to watch while the behind the scenes investigation was even better. I still see a connection between Grissom and Catherine.  They just seem right for each other...however, I haven't seen Warwick and Catherine so maybe their scenes are better.  My question is...who date raped Catherine?  It said to be continued but obviously it won't be since this is a rerun.  Anyone who has been watching the show faithfully able to enlighten me?  And on a closing note...I looked up Shadows of P'Jem to see Gregory Itzin in it (first season Star Trek: Enterprise episode) and all I can say is...the guy needs his natural hairline.  He just looked funny with the Vulcan hair.  I liked how he held himself together better than Logan did and there was a real good air of authority about him that was QUITE attractive, proving he could play Logan strong if he had to.  The funniest part of the episode was this quote from his character: "It is not Vulcan policy to negotiate with terrorists."  There's my President :)

And finally a news story itself: I found this among the pieces about the return of the Logans.  I really like how they categorize the two characters and what might end up happening in Season Six :)

President Logan Will Return

By Steve West: 2006-11-09

President Logan Will Return Behind every corrupt man is a strong but crazy woman. Last season on `24' we thought we saw the end of President Logan and his wife Martha. With an Emmy nomination each, news that both will return for season six should come as no surprise.

Gregory Itzin returns as President Charles Logan, the genius bureaucrat who thought giving terrorists nerve gas would be a good idea. The upcoming season of `24' features Wayne Palmer, brother to Logan approved assassinated David Palmer, as the current elected president. Powers Boothe joins the cast as the new Vice President, Noah Daniels.

Fox has not disclosed in what capacity the fallen first couple will be utilized on the Emmy winning hit series. Hopefully Jack will get the chance to put a bullet through Logan's kneecap while yelling, "Who do you work for!?!"

`24' returns to Fox in January.

And since the news article came with its own picture, I won't be posting one!  However I have one little itty bitty request...

PLEASE PLEASE LEAVE A GIFT IN THE STOCKING!!  THANKS!  I KNOW I MESSED UP WITH THE SUBMIT BUTTON BUT I FIXED IT AND I LOVE READING WHAT PEOPLE LEFT.  HEHE! NO PRESSURE.  THE POST IS TWO BELOW THIS ONE WITH A LINK THAT SAYS "XMAS STOCKING"  THANKS!

(OMG THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I'VE WRITTEN THIS COMMENT OUT. I HATE YOU, LJ!)

I loved Syriana too! It's so nice (although a little weird) to see Alexander acting like a grown up after his time on Deep Space Nine. And I'd totally forgotten that Gregory was ever on Enterprise! I guess everything in life can be related back to Star Trek after a while.

And OMG CSI! I haven't been watching it a whole lot recently, because even with Tivo I can't watch it and Grey's Anatomy and Scrubs all at the same time. But I do really like the Grissom/Cath interaction, as well as the Grissom/Sara stuff. But the problem with CSI is that the character interactions sometimes change so fast they'll give you whiplash. After three seasons of Sara/Grissom dancing around each other and then a season of absolutely nothing, all of a sudden they're sleeping together. And then there's no follow up. And then there's Warrick's wife who came out of nowhere...

And, hey, I just noticed your lj changed again! I like this layout even more.

Hehe

I think you're right about everything in life being traced back to Star Trek. Did you know Jude, Glenn and Roger Cross were also on Star Trek? Not to mention Peter Weller...it's just amazing when you see how many 24 stars have had a small part or two over there.

I never was really into CSI because of the blood and gore but [livejournal.com profile] crashandburn has me hooked again so I need to rent the first few seasons to catch up. Maybe this summer :)

And thanks for the compliment on the layout change...I saw a post from the admin about new season expressive choices so I went ahead and found a Christmas themed one. One that matches my Martha/Charles icon :D

Definitely rent it or see it over the holidays. It will totally sell you on Alexander Siddig as a great actor to be on 24...I just hope the writers realize his abilities and tailor make his role to fit :)

I'm happy to see more Syriana - and Sid - fans out there, too. :) I thought the movie was excellent, although I wonder what it would have been like if Soderbergh had directed. Oh well.
